She’s A Rebel …. how it started!

It all started with a book; ” The history of women in Rockmusic” by Gillian G.Gaar. Eversince I read this book, about 10 years ago, I couldn’t stop thinking about how great it would be to design a show with this as a subject…together with a couple of incredible singers and an amazing band. A tribute to the vocalists who were our role models when we were growing up and finding our own ways into the music-business.

While I was daydreaming about this wonderful plan, life went on, as it always does. Ten years went by (you know…..life..carreer, a pandemic) while my lovely idea collected dust. In the late spring of 2023 I happened to meet Peter den Haan, organizer and owner of a booking agency, and within 20 minutes he was very thrilled and enthusiastic by the idea of giving “She’s A Rebel’ wings to fly. Instead of ‘Rockmusic’ we decided to change the project’s name into ” A history of women in POPmusic”. Within two weeks Esther, Jacqueline and me – together with Peter – took care of the whole plan; the choice of songs and singers, the vocals and a short list of band members we wanted to work with. Luckily, they all said “YES”!

We all share the same passion for the incredible music that so many beautiful singers from the 80’s ’till the ’10s had offered to the world.

Right now we’re working hard on putting the list of songs together, rehearsing the vocal-harmonies and doing all the things that have to be done backstage. In a couple of months from now, we’ll be ready to hit the stage and in the meantime, you can follow us here, and of course also on the socials in a little while. We’d love to hear from YOU which songs from which artists you would absolutely love to hear once we’re on that stage. Feel free to let us know!! Hope to meet you all in some venue in 2024.
